FAQ

ABOUT WAGYU BEEF

Is Waygu Beef Healthy?

Although Wagyu beef is known for its high-fat content, it also boasts a significant amount of monounsaturated fatty acids (MUFAs) and omega-3 and omega-6 fatty acids, which can offer health benefits. Specifically, MUFAs have been shown to help lower cholesterol levels and decrease the risk of heart disease. Furthermore, Wagyu beef is rich in protein, iron, and zinc, making it a nutritious choice for any diet.

  • Healthy Fats: Wagyu beef is rich in monounsaturated fats, particularly oleic acid, which is associated with better heart health and cholesterol management.

  • Omega-3 and Omega-6 Fatty Acids: This beef variety is abundant in essential fatty acids that help reduce inflammation, promote brain health, and enhance overall well-being.

  • Conjugated Linoleic Acid (CLA): Wagyu beef has a higher concentration of CLA, a fatty acid known to aid in fat loss, increase lean muscle mass, and bolster the immune system.

  • Flavor and Satisfaction: The exceptional taste and texture of Wagyu beef can boost satisfaction and enjoyment, making it easier for athletes to stick to their nutritional goals.

The main difference lies in the intramuscular fat, known as marbling. Most prime beef available contains about 12-13% fat, while Wagyu beef from F1 cattle (the first generation of crossbreeding) has 20% or more. F2 typically contains around 65% Wagyu, F3 about 85%, and F4 is a purebred Wagyu cow. When you choose beef from a purebred or full-blood cow, you’ll find it has 30% to 50% more fat than regular Angus, resulting in a richer flavor compared to typical Angus beef.

Yes, at Peters Cattle Company, each and every cow is registered through the American Waygu Association and or the American Akaushi Association.

Our Cows are hormone-free, grass fed and grain finished in a stress free environment.
